In a special tribute to the late, great, Gil Scott- Heron, Jamie XX and Gilles Peterson will perform a one off back to back DJ set at Wilton’s Music Hall in London on January 19. The event is a collaborative effort between XL Recordings, Cannongate Books and Book Slam, set up in order to celebrate the life of the great poet, song writer and autor after his tragic death last year. The event will also be used to launch his posthumous memoir, ‘The Last Holiday’, with performance poets Kate Tempest and Ben Mellor also set to appear, as well as screenings of interviews and rare film footage of Gil. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, January 5th, the event sounds like a wonderful way to reflect on the life and work of one of the greatest voices of our generation.
